As a consequence of the fun and exciting 24 hours (at least) I’ve had, I’ve decided to do a couple of things:

1. Taking an afternoon to read through ALL the WP files, just to see what they say, so I’ll recognize a problem when I see it.

2. Look into relocating my blog with my blog host’s new shiny “cloud” server. I have asked several stupid questions since I’ve been with them, and I’ve never been made to feel stupid once. They. Are. Awesome.

Just a couple of quick housekeeping things:

I’ve changed the blogroll a little. It looked really weird in the new template, so I made it a page instead of as a separate widget. Eventually I’ll put everybody in that I have in my feedreader (and then you’ll be sorry). If there’s anybody I should have on there, or if by some chance I’ve missed you, let me know.
As soon as I can figure out how to lock/password protect some of the galleries, and not all the galleries, I’ll be putting up more pictures, including a couple of family ones.
Speaking of pictures, I need to pry myself away from the ‘puter and head up to the big cemetery in town while the roses are still blooming. Have a good Friday.

…I put up a new template today. Nothing wrong with the old one, but I was feeling the need for a change. This one also allows the newfangled threaded comment thing, so that should make reading conversations easier/less confusing. Maybe.

Just Added Something I May Regret

Even though we are adoptive parents, and even though we have an ongoing relationship with some members of School Girl’s family of origin, I don’t write that much about adoption. For some reason, I lost my mind this morning and signed up for Heather’s new blogring. If my story can serve as an example to others – hey, even a bad example can be helpful, you know – it’ll be worth it in the long run.

A Couple of Little Changes

Just some housekeeping here and there, while we get ready for our annual holiday visit w/School Girl’s other family in Da Springs:

After a lot of thought, and the impetus of BlogHer changing some of their policies, I’ve decided to remove ads altogether. Hell, I have AdBlocker myself; it would be wrong of me (and has been) to think that others wouldn’t do the same. The page loads a lot faster now, and I do mean a lot. Plus, with the huge readership I currently have (insert eyeroll here), it’s not viable to either me or BlogHer to continue to take up a space better used by another blogger with more readers/potential advertising revenue. I’m trying to decide what to put in its place…we’ll see. Probably I’ll decide to bore the hell out of everybody with my Ravelry progress/lack-of-progress bars.

I’m also thinking of redoing the template/layout while I’m at it. It’s possible I might even *gasp* break down and work out a version of Sandbox – assuming Sandbox plays well with the current version of Wordpress. Again, we’ll see.
