So, here are a few more stories I found interesting to tide you over. While I’m being, you know, lazy.

This is such a lovely article. I wish I could make copies of it for everybody I know who isn’t bi. Really, really lovely.

You know, once I stop being lazy and all, I think I’d like to try this. It would help with my sad, sad soldering skills too.

“Peking Man” was recently re-dated; he’s now believed to be 750,000 years old – 200,000 years older than previously dated.

Oooh, look! Yeah, some people get buses, trams and billboards, “central PA” gets a whole station! From the Friendly Atheist.

Not sure how far this bill will go, but a bill to repeal the ban on LGBT adoption in Florida has officially been filed.

Chris Matthews really said this? I am, honestly, impressed. About time.

So I guess that’s enough links to display my laziness…

Guess whose remains were positively identified this week? Go on, guess.

Nicholaus Copernicus. I’m giddy.

The long-lost skeleton of Nicolaus Copernicus – the 16th-century astronomer who transformed our understanding of the solar system – has been found, Polish researchers have confirmed.

Forensic detective work has successfully matched DNA samples recovered from remains in a cathedral grave with hairs retrieved from a book the scholar priest is known to have owned.

The identification is the culmination of four years of investigation and centuries of speculation about the final resting place of the man who challenged the Bible and medieval teachings of the church.

If you’re reading from my daughter’s 1st grade class, Copernicus was the man who proposed the heliocentric view of the universe – that the earth revolves around a sun, not the other way round. Hopefully you’ll learn more about him next year.

By the way, the “grave” was unmarked, and his remains were found underneath a side altar inside the cathedral.

If you’re interested in reading more, De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium, Libri VI can be found at the Rare Book Room.

Archaeology – the greatest thing ever, right next to DNA analysis.

UPDATE: Martin at Aardvarchaeology has a post about this, with details about how the team determined that those bones were Copernicus’. Wow. Just. Wow.
