I usually don't go for the flu vaccine at all. But this year, School Girl was diagnosed w/asthma; so her doctor recommended both the regular flu shot and the H1N1. If I knew we'd be here until, say, November, at least we'd have her doctor's supervision. Without that...

When children are a certain ago - I think her doc mentioned over 9 or 10 - they can choose whether or not to get the live "nasal spray" vaccine or the killed virus vaccine. I'm not sure what the H1N1 vaccine will use; that was a transcript of last night's local news, and their medical reporter didn't say what sort of virus they'd use in the trial vaccine. The "official" one's supposed to be out by early October, but we'll see how the trials go.

You're a braver Mommy than I am. I'm not against vaccines but I do have mixed feelings about this one... It's a brand new vaccines without much data.

Your article doesn't specific but here, in the Great White North, the vaccine will have a live agent. We are, however, only going to get in November to see how Australia and China (who will get it in September) fare with it.
