This and That

Because I can’t think of anything to write about (that wouldn’t make more sense somewhere else), here are a few things I’d like to share with the rest of the class:

Stephen Fry writes about updating Douglas Adams and Mark Carmody’s Last Chance to See. From RichardDawkins.net.

Lordy, lordy, look who’s 40. Happy birthday to the Internets.

Man, this looks tasty. Hello, coconut rice cream and sugar cookie dough! How I’ve missed you…

You know when Medicare might not be a valid option for a congressperson supporting health care reform? When you’re, oh, 21 years too young to qualify.

If I knew we’d still be here 3 months from now, I would let my child participate in this. Yes, I would.

You’re a braver Mommy than I am. I’m not against vaccines but I do have mixed feelings about this one… It’s a brand new vaccines without much data.

Your article doesn’t specific but here, in the Great White North, the vaccine will have a live agent. We are, however, only going to get in November to see how Australia and China (who will get it in September) fare with it.

I usually don’t go for the flu vaccine at all. But this year, School Girl was diagnosed w/asthma; so her doctor recommended both the regular flu shot and the H1N1. If I knew we’d be here until, say, November, at least we’d have her doctor’s supervision. Without that…

When children are a certain ago – I think her doc mentioned over 9 or 10 – they can choose whether or not to get the live “nasal spray” vaccine or the killed virus vaccine. I’m not sure what the H1N1 vaccine will use; that was a transcript of last night’s local news, and their medical reporter didn’t say what sort of virus they’d use in the trial vaccine. The “official” one’s supposed to be out by early October, but we’ll see how the trials go.
