“I’m Next on the List”
Dr. Warren Hern is a Colorado doctor who performs late-term abortions when the life of the mother is in jeopardy. He’s been a target of “pro-life” terrorists for quite some time now. Thank goodness he’s finally got some appropriate security. At least he got it before it was too late.
“Every doctor that does abortions has been under an assassination threat for decades,” Hern told The Colorado Independent hours after Tiller’s death. “The anti-abortion movement message is, ‘Do what we tell you to do or we will kill you,’ and they do. This is a fascist movement.”
Hern said the assassination of Tiller, a close personal friend, is the “absolutely inevitable consequence” of decades of anti-abortion fanaticism.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder requested the US Marshals’ assistance providing security at a number of clinics and doctor’s offices across the country on Sunday, after Dr. George Tiller was murdered while attending church services by a “pro-life” activist.
Seems about time for those who scoffed initially to re-examine the DHS’s document that asserted that there would be a rise in violent activity by the uber-right-wing. These things usually don’t happen in a vacuum.

Yeah – I do feel a little better knowing that the AG was on it enough to request the Marshalls provide security. Shame it couldn’t have happened sooner.
I was kind of reluctant to give the doctor’s name, but CO Independent did, and it’s pretty common knowledge around here. I did leave out the name/exact location of the clinic, but that’s not exactly a huge secret either. It’s only one of three in the US that provide abortion services after 20 weeks, when the life of the mother’s at stake.
