Graduation Day

Today was our official last day of school. It was also School Girl’s kindergarten graduation. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was a long, long morning. Long lines to get into the building – I think I’ll leave that one alone, except to say that sometimes people here get continually caught by surprise. Long wait for the start of the kindie program, thanks to the long lines.

But…the program was worth it. The kids were absolutely adorable. School Girl got to be surrounded by her two best friends at school on the stage. Ooh, and M and C were there. M’s presence was a VERY nice surprise – neither C nor I thought she’d be able to go, but she was. I’m really, really happy they got to see the show.

Unfortunately, because the show started so late, they had to miss the graduation ceremony. But we’ll be sending pictures – and maybe even her teacher’s movie of this past year, if I can figure out how to copy it twice.

I should say also that School Girl’s participation in this extravaganza is a tribute to the power of adrenaline. That’s all – sheer adrenaline. We could tell when the adrenaline wore off too – right around the end of the ceremony, when School Girl had to be dragged back to say goodbye to Best Friend Bear. Who was, actually, a bit hot and grumpy herself. I told her mom I’d call in a couple of days to give the kids time to decompress, and we’ll see when we can get together this summer. I hear Pirate’s Cove is calling somebody’s name, even though she’s much too sick to go this week…
