Some History Behind the “Personhood” Initiative

Apparently, the proposed initiative here in CO – the one that would grant a zygote the same legal status as a person – has made it onto the November ballot. Wendy Norris at Colorado Confidential has started a series about some of the history and background of this initiative. Among other things, she suggests that not all the conservatives here in CO are down with this. Very interesting indeed.

The history is also really interesting. Missouri is the only state that has successfully included “personhood is from the moment of conception” language into their state Constitution (out of the 7 or 8 that have tried so far). I’m really looking forward to the rest of Norris’ series.
