Thoughts About a Helmet Liner: Part 2

Last March, I wrote about my participation in the Stitch for Senate art project/protest. My helmet liner, knitted for one of our US Senators, has been completed and sitting quietly across the country since the beginning of April. This past week, Cat, the project organizer, emailed me to let me know that the next section of the website, the written pieces by each knitter, is now online.

I discovered that there was someone else who also knitted a liner for my chosen Senator. Cat chose to include both of us in the project. Let me tell you why.

Her name is Linda. She’s a military mom, the parent of a son who recently returned from a tour in Iraq. She hopes that he will not have to return, but they don’t know that for certain. She is also publicly against the war. If anybody deserves to have their opinion expressed and represented, it’s most certainly her.

Have a look at all the helmet liners and the writings of the people who knitted/are knitting them. If you’re a knitter, or know someone who is, there are a number of Senators who still need a helmet liner; please consider signing up.
